BRATISLAVA, 16 November 2022. The next week will be a Week for Children organised by the city. The city's organisations will be open to children from all schools. This event is a kick-off of the larger City for Children project, which aims to make Bratislava a better place for all children by giving them a platform for their suggestions. The Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava, in cooperation with the city, has created a platform www.mestopredeti.sk, through which the youngest residents will be able to send ideas to the mayor on how to improve Bratislava from 21 November. To raise awareness among as many children as possible, a Week for Children will take place from 21 to 27 November, during which several city organisations will open their doors free of charge to pupils from Bratislava primary schools. The timing of these activities was scheduled to correspond to World Children's Day, which falls on 20 November each year. The project is the outcome of a partnership with UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) focused on providing long-term and systemic assistance to children.
Bratislava, 11 November 2022 - In Račianske Mýto park, the renovated bench on which the musician "Meky" Žbirka used to sit and play is back in its place of honour. The city, in association with the singer's wife Katarína Žbirková, has sensitively renovated and modified the bench - adding the singer's signature and some of the lyrics of his famous song "Mesto spí" (The City is Sleeping). 10 November marked the first anniversary of his death, and the city organised an intimate commemorative event at the renovated Meky Žbirka bench to mark the occasion.
