    The legendary Koch Garden reopens to the public

    Bratislava, 19 May 2026 – The unique Koch Garden – a small paradise in the middle of the capital city – has passed through a comprehensive renovation, thanks to which it is of higher quality and, above all, safer for visitors. The capital city, in cooperation with the Staré Mesto city borough, was able to carry out the renovation of this popular and sought-after national cultural monument due to financial support from the Interreg Slovakia – Austria programme, as well as a contribution from the VUB Bank Foundation.

    GRECO: Bratislava has a number of well-established practices for preventing corruption

    Bratislava, 15 May 2026 – The capital city took part in a GRECO evaluation, which this time focused on preventing corruption and promoting integrity at the level of local government. In its final evaluation, the Commission noted, among other things, that Bratislava had exceeded the national framework and had developed a number of good practices for preventing corruption and promoting integrity. It expressed appreciation, for example, of the level of transparency in the selection of managers and members of the boards of directors of city companies and organisations, as well as in the area of procurement. At the same time, it offered the city several recommendations that can further help it to prevent corruption.

    Bratislava hosted the Pact of Free Cities

    Bratislava, 13 May 2026 – Yesterday, Bratislava hosted the Pact of Free Cities summit, which associates the mayors of foreign cities supporting freedom and democracy. Mayors and representatives of Budapest, Warsaw, Paris, Amsterdam and others – a total of 20 mayors and political representatives of cities from different parts of the world – came to the capital city to discuss democracy and the protection of it. One of the important conclusions of the summit was the expansion of the Pact into the transatlantic space and the acceptance of 10 new members – mayors of cities from the USA.
