Centres for Children and Families are specialised facilities that work towards preventing crisis situations in families, protect the rights and reasonably protected interest of children. They also prevent the worsening and repetition of disorders of psychical, physical, and social development of children and adults.

They are established under Act No.305/2005 Coll. on social and legal protection of children and on social guardianship ↗︎.

REPULS Centre for Children and Families ↗︎ provides specialised support and aid to children and their families in the form of stays or consultations.

Purpose of stay

Training in parental, communication, and social skills that parents or other individuals need to be able to take care of their children.

The purpose of the stay in the Centre is not only dealing with the housing issue of the family.

Part of specialised care

It is also about adjustments and maintaining relationships between the children and their parents. In many cases, the family environment is reconstructed. The Centre also deals with unforeseen crises within the families.

Who works with the Centre?

Pursuant to Act No. 305/2005 Coll. on the social and legal protection of children and on social guardianship, the City of Bratislava is the founder of the REPULS Centre for Children and Families, which is an organisational unit of Bratislava City Hall.

A specialised team of social workers, a psychologist, educators, healing teachers, and an external lawyer work with the Centre.

Who receives their services?

The services of the REPULS Centre for Children and Families are designed for children or children with their legal representatives, or individuals taking personal care of the children.

What do I need to be accepted in the Centre?

  1. In order to be added to the list of Centre service applicants, it is necessary for the child to have his/her permanent residence in Bratislava.
  2. At the same time, you need to complete and print an application form and send it together with its annexes to:

You can also file it in person at the City Hall filing office at Primaciálne námestie 1. 

You need to attach several annexes to your application (these are listed in the application form).

  1. After registration, you will need to attend an entry interview with the REPULS Centre for Children and Families.

What limitations and obstacles are there?

The main limitations of filing an application and being accepted in the REPULS Centre for Children and Families are:

  • permanent residence needs to be in Bratislava;
  • any serious medical conditions requiring specialised care of the child or adult, or serious psychiatric diagnoses of the child or adult.

A further obstacle is:

  • documented cases of violence against a relative or entrusted person conducted by the adult; or
  • use of narcotics and psychotropic substances by the child or adult.

How much do I pay in the Centre?

Once accepted in the Centre, you pay for accommodation in line with the Generally Binding Ordinance of Bratislava, the Capital of the SR, No. 3/2019:

  • adults – 1€ / day
  • children – 0,70€ / day

At the start of your stay, you need to pay a returnable deposit of 30€.
