Emergency accommodation is a quick help tool for families and individuals who find themselves without a shelter and are not eligible for any temporary accommodation.

As part of the emergency accommodation, they receive support from a social support worker with the City Mobile Team.

In 2022, the City of Bratislava launched a pilot of its emergency accommodation services and uses two of its apartments for these purposes.

Who is emergency accommodation for?

The emergency accommodation is designed for people (individuals, families, other related persons, e.g., partners) in acute crisis facing homelessness. At the same time, they need to meet one of the following criteria:

  • sudden loss of housing due to an accident or natural disaster making their apartment uninhabitable
  • sudden eviction from their apartment
  • risk of having their minor children taken away due to the current housing conditions

Another condition is that the emergency situation must have occurred not longer than 1 month prior to their filing the application.

The emergency accommodation may be provided for up to 3 months and is intended to help the tenants deal with their situation or to stabilise the acute crisis.

What will I need to get the accommodation?

In order to get the emergency accommodation, you need to file an application with us. You can do so online or print the application form and its annexes attached and mail it to:

You can also file it in person with the City Hall’s filing office at Primaciálne námestie 1. 

You need to attach several annexes with the application:

  • personal ID card
  • birth certificates of children
  • employment certificate and certificate of income, social aid benefits, or statutory declaration on income
  • effective decision on receiving custody of the children

How much is the accommodation fee?

The emergency accommodation fee depends on the number of people and size of the apartment.

Our social workers will provide an exact calculation after/at filing the application with us.

The rates are, as follows:

  • 2 € / m2 per month for the first adult
  • 0,30 € / m2 per month for another related adult
  • 0,15 € / m2 per month for a minor
