Bratislava can provide a subsidy to support common good services, community services or services for the public (based on the Generally Binding Ordinance of the City of Bratislava No. 16/2012 and No. 5/2022 on Granting of subsidies and repayable financial assistance from the budget of the capital city of the Slovak Republic Bratislava.

At the same time the city’s grant programmes, can support leisure and educational activities for children and young people, as well as other residents of the city in sporting, cultural and social projects.

Who can apply for the subsidy?

According to VZN No 16/2012, an application for a subsidy can be made by:

  • a legal entity of which the founder is not the capital city or an individual – entrepreneur

They have to meet the following conditions:

  • have their registered office or permanent residence in Bratislava territory,
  • operate in Bratislava territory or provide services to the residents of Bratislava.

How to apply for a subsidy and who is the decision maker?

The applicant needs to complete the application and, together with all the necessary documents as stated in VZN No 16/2021 and VZN No. 5/2022, hand it in in person or post it to:

Provision of grants:

  • up to 3,320€ - the decision is made by the mayor who decides after prior discussions with the relevant city council committees
  • over 3,320€ - the decision is made by the city council which decides after prior discussion with the relevant city council committees

Following the decision to provide the subsidy, the city will sign a subsidy provision contract with the applicant.

Once the subsidy has been spent, the grantee must without any delay provide statement of account and at the latest by the January 5 of the following calendar year.
