Capella Istropolitana
The tones of the Cappella Istropolitana chamber orchestra have been heard since its foundation in 1983.
It is one of the leading domestic and European chamber ensembles, and because of its outstanding qualities it was appointed as the Chamber Orchestra of Bratislava in 1991 under the leadership of Robert Mareček.
The orchestra is a mosaic of experienced and respected musicians and soloists, who all share a passion for playing in a small chamber ensemble.
The orchestra's performances are characterised by a high technical level, a refined sound, an immediacy of expression, an interpretive discipline and a particularly exceptional adherence to period style.
- In Bratislava, the orchestra organises the "Hommage a Lucia Pop" concert to honour the world-famous soprano Lucia Pop.
- Capella Istropolitana has recorded more than 120 CDs, and it has been awarded two platinum discs.
Since its artistic beginnings, the orchestra has become a strong part of the domestic and international music scene.
